Abstract:
This paper discusses an implementation of Cigre dynamic scheme test guidelines for 'Evaluation of Characteristics and Performance of Power System Protection Relays and Protective Systems'. Practical issues of obtaining data and the extent of modelling are considered. Implementation is achieved using a Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) and an analogue test system. Examples of simulation results are discussed. The examples highlight some of the important features that can have an impact on the relay response to the simulation.
