Abstract:
Recently, there is growing demand for support in research and development projects aimed at developing and de-risking power systems of the future. Some of these research projects have particular interest in Software-in-the-Loop real-time modelling and testing facilitated by the increased interest in multi-terminal DC systems. This presentation considers GE Vernova’s approach to deploy and host an HVDC control and protection real code on the RTDS GTSOC system to facilitate Software-in-the-loop testing. The deployment of the vendor specific real code on a vendor agnostic platform (such as the GTSOC) facilitates model sharing and testing of HVDC systems in R&D development or multi-staged commercial project. The deployment process as well as results validating the performance of the SIL system presented.
