ABSTRACT
The Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) has been used for both education and research in the Renewable Energy Laboratory of the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia. The applications in education including following aspects: (1) protection device and new protection algorithm testing; (2) battery storage control strategy testing; (3) power system modelling in RSCAD for Hardware in the loop test. The major research has been conducted based on RTDS: (1) inverter-based load characteristics extraction; (2) coordinated voltage control for distribution power networks with high PV penetration; (3) anti-islanding test for inverter-based DG. The detailed testing techniques and results based on RTDS will be discussed in this presentation.
