This paper presents the linearized state space modelling and the small-signal stability analysis of an MMC-VSC system. The importance of modelling the DC network dynamics and AC systems are demonstrated. In order to improve the accuracy of the model, the dynamic phasor technique is used to model the AC network. The linearized model of the system is validated against the non-linear Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) model. Further, the eigenvalue analysis and the participation factors are used to study the system dynamics.
