Abstract:
Faults or disturbances can lead to outages which will lead to loss of capital, inflict damage to equipment, and cause inconveniences to the customers. If such events can be anticipated, the loss of supply can be reduced and inconveniences caused to the customers prevented. The presentation will deal with the potential assessment of fault anticipation algorithms in intelligent distribution systems, and how RTDS can assist in this research. Aside from application of RTDS for novel fault anticipation algorithms in intelligent distribution systems this presentation will also highlight various RTDS related research activities as currently being conducted by TU Delft. Among these are: PMU Supported Frequency-Based Corrective Control of Future Power Systems, the COBRAcable research project and the MIGRATE horizon 2020 research project.
