Abstract:
Phasor Measurements provides synchronized readings of voltages and currents across wide-area of power system at very high rates which enables more accurate State Estimation algorithms and improved voltage stability analysis with equivalent network parameter estimation. This presentation focuses on the use of RTDS to develop wide-area models with appropriate controls for applications such as situational awareness, contingency analysis, angle pair measurements for validation of real-time operational tools and EMS. Use of RTDS for both localized benefits such as generator performance (PSS, etc.) and system impact on generator model validation are also covered.
