Abstract:
Most VSC-HVDC controls fix DC power at one VSC station, and fix DC voltage at the other. This paper proposes a power-voltage hybrid control which enables one VSC station to control both DC power and voltage simultaneously. By applying the hybrid control to both end of VSC-HVDC, the interconnected AC systems can mutually support each other during frequency deviation, and the VSC’s stability is also enhanced for low short-circuit ratio operation. Stability and effectiveness of the control is verified through RTDS simulations.
