This presentation provides an overview of Python scripting capabilities within the RTDS Technologies RSCAD FX environment and demonstrates how automation can improve simulation workflows. The session reviews the evolution from legacy C-based scripting to the modern Python API, highlighting the benefits of using a widely adopted programming language to automate repetitive tasks, control simulations, modify parameters, manage runtime components, and collect simulation results. The presentation also introduces new functionality available in recent software releases, including automated placement of runtime objects and direct access to simulation data through the Python API. In addition, it outlines ongoing development efforts focused on frequency scan automation, debugging tools, and controller optimization workflows. A practical demonstration illustrates how Python can be used to automate the benchmarking and validation of an RTDS simulation against a PSCAD model, including data collection, result comparison, visualization, and report generation. The presentation showcases how Python scripting can streamline engineering studies, reduce manual effort, and support more efficient simulation, testing, and analysis processes.
