Abstract:
The magnitude of fault current varies greatly under various operating modes of low-voltage flexible DC distribution network, which makes the existing protection principle invalid. The general protection scheme under different modes has become an urgent need for the current DC system protection research. In this paper, based on the traditional inverse time overcurrent protection idea, an adaptive protection scheme based on current transient quantity is proposed by using the current change rate and its derivative to form a double independent variable, which unifies the problem of internal and external fault identification and the action delay setting of the upper and lower circuit breakers. It ensures the selectivity under serious faults while taking into account the quickness. It does not need data synchronization, and can adaptively identify faults in different operating modes, which meets the protection requirements of low-voltage DC distribution network. The feasibility of the proposed protection scheme is verified in real time digital simulator (RTDS).
