Abstract:
With the rapid development of smart grids and renewable energy integration, high-voltage large-capacity AC/DC converters have become the core equipment for energy conversion and transmission in power systems.Their safe and stable operation is crucial to the reliability and efficiency of the entire power grid. In this paper, the common faults of high-voltage large-capacity AC/DC converters are systematically analyzed first, including power device faults, grid-side faults, and control system faults. Based on the topology structure of the converter, the fault mechanism and transient characteristics of different types of faults are studied, and the fault characteristic indexes are extracted to provide a basis for fault diagnosis. Then, a simulation model of high-voltage large-capacity AC/DC converter is built based on RTDS, and the fault characteristics and control effect of the converter are verified through simulation experiments. The simulation results show that the proposed fault characteristic analysis method can accurately identify different types of faults, and the improved control strategy can effectively suppress the fault transient impact, reduce the output waveform distortion, and ensure the safe and stable operation of the converter. This research provides a reference for the fault diagnosis and control design of high-voltage large-capacity AC/DC converters in practical engineering applications. The research results have been verified and applied in ±10kV/10MW AC/DC converters.
