The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is expanding the digital real time simulation capabilities as part of the Advanced Research for Integrated Energy Systems (ARIES) research. The focus is to enable at-scale evaluation of multi-technology hybrids using large scale real-time simulations and hardware-in-the-loop approaches. To complement the high-fidelity simulation environment, linear amplifiers are being interfaced with RTDS for power hardware-in-the-loop experiments. The presentation will cover the overview of ARIES and progress on integration of RTDS for large-scale real-time simulations.
