Abstract:
An RSCAD model of a single-phase inverter traction system (PMCF) was developed to be used in a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of a STATCOM intended for voltage regulation of the catenary network. The RSCAD model required to be scaled to represent the combination of the number of PMCF units in each train and the number of trains accelerating or decelerating simultaneously on the same network. The complete model included two types of traction systems, namely thyristor-based traction system and PMCF-based traction system. The presentation will include modeling details of the PMCF load, and its performance benchmarked against a Simulink Model provided by the manufacturer.
