Abstract:
Today, the generally required test system for a distance relay consists of two source busbars connected by a coupled two circuit line. In many cases, much more complex systems are required, deriving from a need to examine the interaction over a wider network. This presentation will outline four systems where these wider test requirements were needed: testing the streaming of IEC 61850 data from several AMUs, studying the impact of series compensation on the UK transmission network, examining the operation of relay software by converting its MATLAB code to run in RSCAD, and validating a multi-ended current differential product.
